An Interview with Hard Rock Resort’s Wedding Coordinator Janessa

Hello Janessa and thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to chat with us today!
Thank you, Terrah for this opportunity!

So how long have you been helping plan dream weddings?
I have been planning destination weddings for about a year and a half now.

What is your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of my job, I must say, is the whole process. I love being a part of a couples one special day. I love understanding their vision and making it a reality.

What are some of the most fun/memorable weddings you’ve helped plan? I had a wedding that was just the bride and groom, when the minister asked the groom to place the ring on the brides finger, the groom got down on one knee to do it. There was also a wedding reception that was near a pool and everyone including the bride ended up in the pool at the end of the night.

How do you feel about wedding favors/gifts?
Wedding favors show your guests that you want them to have something to remind them of their special day, however it should be something that will they will have use for, not something that will end up in a drawer or garbage. For example, I had a couple that would collect koozies wherever they traveled together. For their favors, they created personalized koozies and it was something that represented the bride and groom, as well as, something the guests can use afterwards.

Being in a tight economy right now, would you suggest an area to cut costs or downsize?
We are in a tight economy and cutting costs on certain things is hard to do, but not impossible. How much you spend on your favors, using different types of flowers that will still give the affect you like, guest list, and the venue are all little ways of keeping the costs down.

Is there anything new and exciting going on with weddings at Hard Rock?
We have new group benefits the bride and groom will receive with booking a certain number of rooms or rooming nights:

· 5 – 9 Rooms of 3 nights or 15-29 room nights = One (1) Cocktail Reception for one   hour.
· 10 – 19 Rooms of 3 nights or 30 – 59 room nights = One (1) Private Function for 2 hours. (cocktail reception or dinner)
· 20 – 24 Rooms of 3 nights or 60 – 74 room nights = One (1) Private Function for 3 hours (cocktail reception and dinner)
· 25 Rooms or more for 3 nights or 75 room nights or more = Two (2) Private Functions for 3 hours each, not to be held on the same day.

These benefits really help the bride and group in keeping costs down and still creating their vision for their special day.

If you were to give some tips or advice to a soon to be bride, what would it be?
I would tell a soon to be bride to plan ahead, create a budget, and to have a vision on how she would like her wedding day to be and look.

Again, thank you so much for your time and effort!

Thank you again for this opportunity.

Wedding coordinator interview! ~ Azul Hotels ~

Amanda
Amanda Patek – Wedding Planner for Azul Hotels based in the United States

Hello Amanda and thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to chat with us today!

So how long have you been helping plan dream weddings for the Azul Hotels?
Almost 2 years now.

What is your favorite part of your job?
Working with the different brides and helping them pick out their bouquet, menus, entertainment and everything that goes along with a perfect wedding. It’s really nice to work with all different types of brides and agents. I’m definitely a girly girl, so helping to plan each woman’s perfect wedding melts me every time!!

What are some of the most fun/memorable weddings you’ve helped plan?
One wedding that I planned recently were married at Azul Beach Hotel. The couple was so sweet and down to earth. They ended up sending me the wedding video after they returned home and it was probably the best video I’ve seen! I definitely wanted to be there because it looked beautiful and everyone looked like they had a blast.

How do you feel about wedding favors/gifts?
I think it’s a nice gesture when bride’s bring them, especially for a destination wedding. It’s saying an extra “thank you” for flying to Mexico and joining in on the wedding celebration. A lot of my bride’s have gotten really creative with a destination wedding gift bag.

Being in a tight economy right now, would you suggest an area to cut costs or downsize?
I would suggest cutting down on ceremony decorations because the ceremony is only 25 minutes in length and the scenery is already breathtaking anyways. I would put that money into a private reception with great food and dancing. Our wedding packages also include a semi private dinner for the wedding party, so this is perfect for wedding couples on a budget that still want a nice, sit-down dinner with their family and friends.

Is there anything new and exciting going on with Azul weddings?
There’s always something new and exciting going on! We always have great promotions like the Free Wedding Package or the Bride and Groom Stay Free Promotion. Nothing is impossible for us to do, so depending on how creative you want to get for a wedding, we can accommodate it.

If you were to give some tips or advice to a soon to be bride, what would it be?
I would suggest that the bride visits the Azul properties… they really speak for themselves.  Each bride has different priorities, so I would suggest figuring out what yours are and go from there.  Some brides really want a low key wedding, others want something elaborate.  I always say to make a list of “must haves” and find the resort and wedding package that allows you to plan your perfect wedding. Everyone’s version of a perfect wedding is different and the Azul properties are really great at molding to each bride’s needs.

Again, thank you for all that you do and know that we simply adore you and the entire Azul Wedding Team.

Attention brides to be:  When calling to set up your consultation with a Wedding Consultant at Legacy Travel be sure and ask about the special gifts that you receive when wedding at one of the Azul Resorts.

~ Wedding coordinator interview ~

Hello Claudia and thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to be with us today!

It is a great pleasure to be part of this and thank you for the opportunity to share my experiences with all the excited brides !!

Okay, so first question ~ how long have you been helping plan dream-come-true weddings for the Dreams resorts?

I started with AM Resorts 6 years ago, I think I have planned about 1,000 weddings, more or less.

WOW, a thousand? Haha! I bet you have seen it all! What is your favorite part about your job?

As most of the girls…I think my favorite part is when the couple is just right there at the Ceremony at the gazebo overlooking the water, holding both hands, exchanging vows, a wonderful couple happy, connected, so much love around and you even feel it, it is a special moment…Isn’t it romantic????

Awwwe, full of romance certainly. With the gazebo at the resort it is inevitable. What are some of the most fun/memorable weddings you’ve planned?

I remember a lovely bride singing to her future husband while she was walking to get married to him, all their family guests & friends were crying even me & the minister, it was so emotional !!!

I have seen & experienced a lot of funny moments too I graciously remember a wedding on the beach. It was a very hot summer and at the end of the ceremony at the photo session everybody from the wedding party jumped into the ocean…….they wanted me to do the same but I was still working!! I wish I could have!!

But the funniest was when I fell down just in front of a garden reception, more than 50 people around and just in front of the Mariachi playing a happy Mexican song…it was sooo embarrassing for me !!!

Oh no! Haha! I’m sure it just lightened the mood. 😉 How do you feel about wedding favors? Have there been any impressive or creative ones that made you stop and admire?

Yes of course! I always have the opportunity to see all of them, a lot of great ideas and unique details, when I see them I always think about all of the time and dedication a bride puts into personalizing and creating their own ideas, it gives a special touch to the wedding and it is a token of their appreciation to all of their friends and family attending their wedding.

Being in a tight economy right now, would you suggest an area to cut costs or downsize?

Take in consideration that most of the Destination Weddings have slow season months and they can find very special deals with airfare, hotel, etc.

Make sure to think of all additional items you want for the wedding. Sometimes there are useless things you probably will not need and will help you save some money, also consider items you can do yourself (DIY).

Is there anything new and exciting going on with Dreams Cancun weddings?

We have a new renovated gazebo !!

Yes, I know! It looks so much more modern, simple and beautiful. Okay, last question ~ If you were to give some tips or advice to a soon to be bride, what would it be?

A wedding coordinator interview! The Grand Velas

To see our recent hotel review on the beautiful Grand Velas, click here.

Hello Flor and thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to be with us today!

So how long have you been helping plan dream weddings for the Grand Velas?
I’ve been working in the hotel industry for almost 10 years, but for Grand Velas just a couple of months and I love it.

What is your favorite part about your job?
Being able to perform the bridal ideas and feelings, it can sometimes make me feel like an artist.

What are some of the most fun/memorable weddings you’ve planned?
Each wedding has a special flavor, but I will never forget one by the beach where each table was set up under a white tent surrounded by curtains made with bright seashells, the ocean was so blue that day that even though during the day the set up was so bright and delightful just standing there.

How do you feel about wedding favors?
I love favors they express the fun side of the newlyweds

Being in a tight economy right now, would you suggest an area to cut costs or downsize? Choosing an All inclusive hotel like ours will help you to reduce your food and beverage budget into the minimum and never cut cost for your bouquet. There will always be an option to make it as you planned.

Is there anything new and exciting going on with Grand Velas weddings?
We are in the process to offer new packages , also for vow renewal and some theme parties

If you were to give some tips or advice to a soon to be bride, what would it be?
If you do not have an specific idea already in your mind , get into Internet wedding pages or blogs and I am sure that you will find many ideas , to combine the styles , colors and shapes that you like share them with you wedding coordinator to make them happen.

Again, thank you so much Flor. You’re a pleasure to work with.

Please do not hesitate to contact me for any additional information

All by best,

Flor Guzman
