Lexi and Juan’s Dream Punta Cana Wedding

Bride: Lexi

Groom: Juan

Resort: Dreams Punta Cana

Agent: Nicki

I chose a destination wedding because I’ve always dreamed of getting married on the beach in a beautiful tropical atmosphere. My husband is from the Dominican Republic so it just made sense to have it in his native country. I chose Dreams Resort and Spa in Punta Cana because their wedding packages seemed to give you the most bang for your buck.

I do not enjoy being stressed out so having everything put together for me made life a lot easier. What I’ve learned from my experience is to roll with the punches. Unexpected things are going to occur and if you let it bother you, it will interfere with your wonderful experience. Your special day comes and goes so quickly so you have to enjoy every moment.

I did not have a lot of people attend my wedding although I invited quite a few. A few friends and family decided to wait to the last minute and the resort sold out so please tell your loved ones to book in advance. I also had friends and family that were unable to go but I didn’t find out till the last minute. This definitely altered my plans and bridal party but I refused to let that interfere with my special day. Keeping a positive attitude is key when having a destination wedding. The service was wonderful at the resort and I know I made the right decision.

A Beach Wedding in Cancun

Bride: Chelsey
Groom: Erik
Resort: Iberostar Cancun
Agent: Nicki

We spoke to bride Chelsey about her beach wedding and here’s what she had to say:
My favorite memory of the trip was
waking up every morning to the view in our room and feeling like we had nothing to worry about the whole time we were there!
We chose Iberostar because it was recommended to us by Nicki and we trusted her judgement and the reviews it had online! It was more breathtaking in person then it was in pictures online.
I would recommend this place for any bride or couple wanting to get away! It was a dream every morning and we didn’t want to leave! Everything was taken care of the moment we got there and the biggest advice I can give to anyone is go through a travel agent because they will take care of everything to keep you from worrying about anything while you’re there. We would not change a single thing about this trip and we plan on going back next year for our anniversary.

Q & A with Bride Diesha: THE Royal in Playa del Carmen

Bride: Deshia
Groom: Clifton
Resort: THE Royal in Playa del Carmen
Agent: Nicki
What made you decide on the destination/resort/venue?
I decided on The Royal Playa del Carmen because this is actually where Clifton and I fell in love. I actually picked this hotel because of the convenience of everything. My granddaughter and children came down with me to celebrate this special moment in my life and Gran Porto Real, which is the family friendly hotel is right across the street. The hotel is located in walking distance to Fifth Avenue so everything is close by. The grounds are immaculate, the rooms are spacious and very clean, and the staff are the friendliest and most helpful people I have ever come across since I have been traveling.
What was the highlight of the experience and what was the biggest surprise?
The highlight of the experience was my daughter-in-law (Micah Patterson) singing “Wedding Vows” by Jamie Foxx as my oldest son (Bertram Patterson) walked me to my husband and my husband was standing there waiting for me. The biggest surprise was after the post cocktail hour the wedding party and guest were walked to the reception area by the pool and everyone at the pool stopped what they were doing and started clapping and congratulating us. It was like my wedding was attended by 500 plus guest.
If your best friend were planning a destination wedding what would your advice be to her?
My advice would be to relax and let them pamper you because they know how things are supposed to go. This is your day and you are allowed to have your fairy tale none stressful wedding with the people you love.
Was there anything that you would change looking back?
No, everything was perfect.

A Laid Back Love Story, Anna & Brett’s Hyatt Zilara Wedding

A Laid Back Love Story

Anna & Brett’s Hyatt Zilara Wedding

Bride: Anna
Groom: Brett
Resort: Hyatt Zilara
Agent: Nicki

We reached out to one of our lovely brides to see how her destination wedding experience was and this is what she had to say!

Brett and I chose a destination wedding because we are both laid back people and did not want a highly involved planning process. We also knew the wedding we would want in Chicago would be much more expensive. We chose Hyatt Zilara due to its proximity to the airport, incredible ocean view in every room and the impeccable food, drink selection and service.

What we enjoyed the most from our wedding was 70 of our closest friends and family joining us for an extended stay in paradise. Every single person had the time of their lives and told us they plan to return to the Hyatt Zilara.

We could not have asked for a more perfect day. My advice to a friend planning destination wedding would be get a DJ!!! We had DJ Mannia and not one person left the dance floor for 1.5 hours straight!

We wish we could have been dancing the night away with this fun couple!

Love and best wishes from Team Legacy!

I just had an amazing time on the trip and so did all of my guest. You would be amazed how many people reached out to me to express how much fun they had and to thank me for deciding to have a destination wedding!
I decided to have the wedding in Cancun at the Gran Caribe Real. The hotel, ocean and the staff were so wonderful. The staff were so helpful and genuinely happy for you.
The entire experience was amazing and I wouldn’t change a thing. Having a destination wedding was one of the best ideas I ever had and I would whole heartedly recommend brides to be to look into seeing if having a destination wedding is something for them.
