What made you decide on having a destination wedding?

We both knew that we wanted something different. I, originally wanted to elope just the two of us. And then we decided we would just invite immediate family. Well, that quickly escalated to cousins, and nieces and nephews, so we decided to just have a wedding! A destination wedding was the best of both worlds. We had the intimacy we wanted, and the destination.

What made you decide on the destination/resort/venue?

Hannah did an awesome job of giving us many options when it came to picking the location of the wedding. For us it was important
that the resort was small so we could see our guests everyday, as well as cost effective for all of those traveling. We ultimately ended
up choosing Dreams Riviera Cancun because it was:
A: On the smaller side
B: Only 30 minutes from the airport. This was important to use because we had a lot of guests that had never traveled to Mexico.
C: Amazing wedding reviews

What was the biggest difficulty in planning your destination wedding?

The most difficult thing for me was waiting until 3 months prior to speak to our wedding coordinator at the resort.
By 3 month before the wedding, a theme is already planned, without any actual planning. Bridesmaids dresses
were picked, wedding dress, groomsmen attire. It as difficult to envision what the wedding would ultimately
end up looking like without fully understanding what the options were. Thankfully, my planner was amazing
and everything came out wonderfully.

What was the highlight of the experience and what was the biggest surprise?

Honestly, everything! I was just completely blown away with the details that went into each event
starting with our rehearsal/welcome party, the cocktail hour, and the wedding. Fernanda (our wedding
coordinator) has fantastic taste, and everything came together beautifully. It rained everyday while we
were there so we had to go with plan B for our ceremony and reception and moved it all inside. I was
so distraught over it on the day of the wedding, but it was all amazing. You couldn’t even tell that our
reception was being held inside of a Mexican restaurant!

How well was the resort and your Onsite Wedding Coordinator to work with?

AMAZING. Poor Fernanda, I was so stubborn when it came to the idea of moving the wedding inside.
She did not miss a beat on any of the plans that we had made. She even found sparklers for us last
minute on the day of! The details, I feel like the pictures don’t even do them justice. She was always
available and had great communication. I can’t rave about her enough.

If your best friend were planning a destination wedding what would your advice be to her?

DO IT! Don’t listen to anyone. The people that want to be there will be there. Get a travel agent
aka Hannah because she will make your life so easy and also those of your guests. Those 4
days surrounded by loved ones on the beach have been no doubt, the best days of our lives
and we wouldn’t do a thing differently.

Was there anything that you would change looking back?

NO! Honestly, even the dates because of the rain. We got amazing pictures and everything
worked out how it was supposed to.

What made you decide on having a destination wedding?

My husband and I decided to have a destination wedding because we wanted our guests to have a vacation.  Neither my husband nor I are from Dallas. All of our guests were going to have to travel to our wedding and we wanted to have an experience that lasted more than 1 day.

What made you decide on the destination/resort/venue?

We decided to have our wedding in Mexico for several reasons.  We wanted to select a place that had a large airport with a wide variety of flights.  We also loved how we could get everything we wanted in Mexico. This made Cancun the perfect place for us.

I have always loved the Secrets Resorts.  They do an amazing job with weddings and with customer service.  After talking with our travel agent Audrey, we selected Secrets Silversands.  I really liked how it was close to the airport. The last thing I wanted was to fly to Mexico then sit in the car for 2 hours getting to our resort.

What was the biggest difficulty in planning your destination wedding?

The biggest difficulty I had with our destination wedding was giving up control and trusting people.  I was unable to do a site visit prior to our wedding. I had to have faith that my wedding coordinator, resort and everyone involved in our wedding knew what they were doing.

How well was the resort and your On site Wedding Coordinator to work with?

The resort was beautiful and super friendly.  I loved how this was an adult only resort so we were able to relax without having to worry about children.  I also really enjoyed the number of pools and restaurants the resort had on-site.

My wedding coordinator was amazing.  Veronica knew what she was doing and was quick to respond to any questions or last minute changes I requested.  She made sure that everyone was in the right place and the right time. It really allowed me the opportunity to enjoy the day and not stress about anything.

What was the highlight of the experience and what was the biggest surprise?

The highlight of this whole trip was the wonderful memories everyone made.  This was truly a vacation with my family and best friends.

If your best friend were planning a destination wedding what would your advice be to her?

Trust that everything is going to work out and be beautiful, don’t look at the weather and enjoy your day.

would also tell her to use Legacy Travel to help with guests booking their trips.  I knew when everyone was arriving so we were able to meet everyone in the lobby.

Was there anything that you would change looking back?

We wouldn’t change anything.

Is there anything else you want to add about the resort or your booking agent Audrey?

Audrey was wonderful to work with.  She was quick to respond to any problems anyone had.  She was also the person who suggested this resort and helped with establishing communication with the wedding coordinator at the resort.

I was recommended to Terrah by a friend who worked with her to plan her destination wedding. Terrah helped me plan my own, taking our input and offering great options that fit our asks very well. I felt confident and secure in our travel and accommodations the entire trip because Terrah is clearly a pro! She was also extremely responsive to questions, even kindly directing me to the right place if she couldn’t answer something. Legacy Travel’s travel tips and videos are helpful and keep things fun, which is appreciated when there is so much info to absorb! My family and my fiancé’s are not big travelers, yet no one had a hitch during their experience. Thank you for making my destination wedding a huge success and a wonderful experience for everyone to look back on!

What made you decide on having a destination wedding?
We wanted to have our wedding, reception and honeymoon in one location. We also wanted all of our guests to have a really good time. Plus, I have always dreamed of a beach wedding. The beach is the only place I could imagine getting married. My husband had never been to a beach resort and he was blown away. It was our first time in an all-inclusive resort and it was fantastic.

What made you decide on the destination/resort/venue?
I picked Mexico. My travel agent, Audrey Kupovics, helped me narrow it down to Cancun. She picked Fiesta Americana Condesa, Cancun, Mexico, which was an excellent pick. The first day I got there I called her and told her, “Audrey, you were right.”

What was the biggest difficulty in planning your destination wedding?
Not being able to really see the venue. I could have flown down to Mexico the year before, but we’re on a tight budget.

What was the highlight of the experience and what was the biggest surprise?
The ocean front resort and ocean front room were like being in paradise. Seeing the sunrise over the ocean every morning was breath-taking. The biggest surprise was the staff-to-guest ratio. We had several servers at our reception and we had a small wedding. The party favors of balloons and glow sticks were huge hits.

How well was the resort and your Onsite Wedding Coordinator to work with?
Lucia was fantastic. She was very responsive and so pleasant to work with. We adored her and our wedding photographer, Adrian.

If your best friend were planning a destination wedding what would your advice be to her?

Start early. I needed the entire year to get everything done. The little details make all the difference. It also helped our tight budget to pay over time.

Was there anything that you would change looking back?
No. It was our perfect, dream wedding.

Is there anything else you want to add about the resort or your booking agent?
I give them both an A-plus.
